Declan McKenna<\/a> has been named BBC Music Introducing Artist of the Year, as part of the BBC Music Awards 2017.<\/p>\n

In 2014 \u2013 when he was only 15 years old \u2013 Declan uploaded his breakthrough single \u2018Brazil\u2019 to BBC Music Introducing in Beds, Herts and Bucks. This year, he released his critically acclaimed debut album \u2018What Do You Think About the Car?\u2019 via Columbia Records.<\/p>\n

Declan says, “I’m delighted and honoured to accept this award from BBC Music Introducing. I’d like to say a big thank you for relentlessly rooting for me throughout the years; no award could ever overshadow the time, effort and support given by so many others to get me to the point I’m at now, and for that I’m eternally grateful!”<\/p>\n

Three further BBC Music Awards \u2013 Artist of the Year, British Album of the Year and Live Performance of the Year \u2013 will be announced as part of ‘The Year in Music 2017’, a one-hour special to be aired on BBC Two on December 8th. The programme will also feature contributions from artists including Foo Fighters <\/a>and George Ezra<\/a>, plus a specially shot performance by Rag’n’Bone Man<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n
