{"id":16206,"date":"2021-09-21T18:39:00","date_gmt":"2021-09-21T17:39:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.sonymusic.co.uk\/?p=16206"},"modified":"2021-10-04T11:56:27","modified_gmt":"2021-10-04T10:56:27","slug":"4th-floor-creative-partners-with-jaguar-for-unique-sound-design-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sonymusic.co.uk\/4th-floor-creative-partners-with-jaguar-for-unique-sound-design-project\/","title":{"rendered":"4th Floor Creative partners with Jaguar for unique sound design project"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sonymusic.co.uk\/label\/4th-floor-creative\/\">4th Floor Creative<\/a> has partnered with Jaguar to bring together the worlds of music and design in a unique celebration of the arts, showcasing one-off performances by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sonymusic.co.uk\/artist\/disciples\/\">Disciples<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sonymusic.co.uk\/artist\/pip-millett\/\">Pip Millett<\/a> in facilities ordinarily dedicated to the design and engineering of Jaguar\u2019s cars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sound Design is the latest collaboration between Jaguar and 4th Floor Creative, following their \u2018Hard to Forget\u2019 campaign with DJ and producer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sonymusic.co.uk\/artist\/mk\/\">MK<\/a> for the Jaguar F-PACE performance SUV. Curated with 4th Floor Creative and directed by Silence Aitken-Till, Sound Design captures the thrill of live music as audiences return to concerts and festivals post-lockdown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Disciples performed live from Jaguar\u2019s anechoic chamber at the Gaydon Product Creation Centre \u2013 a soundproof room normally used to develop and test the refinement and sound quality of Jaguar\u2019s vehicles. The world-class facility was chosen as the venue for the production trio\u2019s performance of their single \u2018Solid Gold\u2019 featuring bshp \u2013 their first outing together since the onset of the pandemic.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe creation of music as art is for the enjoyment and interpretation of your audience,\u201d said Disciples. \u201cPerforming and recording is a massive part of that. Over the last year and a half, restrictions have meant that hasn\u2019t been possible. It\u2019s good to be back, especially in such a uniquely creative location.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sophie Ellis, Jaguar\u2019s Senior Creative Detail Designer, had the opportunity to discuss creative inspiration with Disciples. \u201cI was surprised at just how similar the processes of designing a car and writing music are,\u201d she said. \u201cWe are both using our lived experiences to communicate an emotion and are asking the end user to feel something. Creatives of all kinds are professional empaths in their own fields. You feel what a Jaguar is when you get into one, and you hear the creativity of Disciples when you listen to their music.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The second session in the series features Pip Millett, performing \u2018Braid it Back\u2019 from her EP&nbsp;<em>Motion Sick<\/em>. Filmed in the creative epicentre of the Jaguar Design studio, the space perfectly complimented her cool yet dynamic tone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cExperimental creativity is massively important to me when writing new music \u2013 that way each song released gets better and better,\u201d said Millett. \u201cPerforming against such a different backdrop was extremely exciting after a long time of not having any audience, and broadened how I think about creativity.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After her performance she was joined by Louise Thorburn, Jaguar\u2019s Senior Colour and Materials Designer, to discuss how it feels to deliver a project after a long period of development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s our job as designers to push the boundaries of creativity for the benefit of our respective audiences,\u201d said Thorburn. \u201cSharing that experience with another creative is hugely important.
