The Judas Priest Name Generator, launched alongside the release of Judas Priest\u2019s<\/a> eighteenth studio album Firepower<\/em>, last night won the Communications and Content: Small Budget category at last night\u2019s 2018 BIMA Awards.\u00a0 \u00a0

Created by Sony Music UK’s 4th Floor Creative<\/a>, in collaboration with Columbia Records and London-based creative agency Phantom, the Name Generator enables fans to create their own personalised Judas Priest logos.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Using 3D geometry, SVG information and a combination of automatic and manual optical kerning, the team created an algorithm that lined up all of the correct characters as the fan typed their name in real time.\u00a0
<\/p><\/p>\n\n\n

In the week after launch, the Name Generator had received 1.5 million page views, generating over 175,000 individual fan-created logos and helped Firepower<\/em> enter the UK album chart at #5, making it the band\u2019s first top 10 album since 1980.<\/p>\n
