Beyonc\u00e9 <\/a>has today been announced as the executive producer of multi-artist album The Lion King: The Gift,<\/em> a musical ode to the classic story of Disney\u2019s The Lion King<\/em> feature film. The album and film will also feature a new original song, \u2018Spirit\u2019, performed by Beyonc\u00e9.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beyonc\u00e9 has brought together a symphony of some of her favourite artists and the most talented, important African artists of the day to both pay tribute to the iconic film and bring the authentic sounds of African music to the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis is sonic cinema,\u201d said Beyonc\u00e9. \u201cThis is a new experience of storytelling.\u00a0 I wanted to do more than find a collection of songs that were inspired by the film. It is a mixture of genres and collaboration that isn\u2019t one sound. It is influenced by everything from R&B, pop, hip hop and Afro Beat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each song was written to reflect the film\u2019s storytelling that gives the listener a chance to imagine their own imagery, while listening to a new contemporary interpretation\u201d she continued. \u201cIt was important that the music was not only performed by the most interesting and talented artists but also produced by the best African producers. Authenticity and heart were important to me.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n

The album The Lion King: The Gift<\/em> is set for release on July 19.<\/p>\n\n\n
