Saturn<\/a><\/em> by NAO<\/a> has been shortlisted for the 2019 Mercury Prize.<\/p>\n

Released in October 2018 via RCA Records, Saturn<\/em> features the singles \u2018Another Lifetime\u2019 and \u2018Make It Out Alive\u2019 (feat. SiR). The album provides the follow-up to NAO\u2019s 2016 debut, For All We Know<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Speaking about the concept behind the album, NAO said, \u201cmy friends kept telling me about the term \u2018Saturn Returns\u2019. It\u2019s this idea that Saturn takes 29 years to orbit from when you\u2019re born and it is the planet of blessings and growth. So by the time you\u2019re around 29, between 27 and 32, something big happens in your life. It\u2019s like waking up and coming of age, like, \u2018I\u2019ve been going through my twenties and what have I been doing in this relationship? What have I been doing in this job?\u2019 You start to rethink everything \u2013 old stuff that your parents taught you or ideas that you believed in. It\u2019s like a complete shedding of skin and it can be painful.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Hyundai Mercury Prize Albums of the Year celebrate and promote the best of British and Irish music, recognising artistic achievement across a range of contemporary music genres.<\/p>\n

The winner will be announced at the 2019 Awards Show, taking place at London\u2019s Eventim Apollo on Thursday 19th September. The event will be broadcast live on BBC Four and BBC Radio 6 Music.<\/p>\n\n\n
